Rhapsodic Rosettes
The Rhapsodic Rosettes series consists of 15 mixed media paintings that draw inspiration from the ancient Assyrian rosette. Each painting incorporates 3D printed parts, which offer a contemporary twist to the traditional motifs, resulting in a fresh and modern interpretation of the ancient art form. By utilizing new materials and technology, this series highlights the evolution and preservation of the Assyrian culture. It serves as a bridge between the past and the present, illustrating the enduring relevance of Assyrian art in the modern world. Each piece is adorned with variations of rock-like textures that pay homage to its ancient roots and painted with vibrant colors that combine ancient and contemporary palettes. The background, which symbolizes the transformation of Assyrian history from fully visibility to no visibility, features 10 out of the 15 pieces adorned with a collage of printed, cut, stained, and rearranged ancient Assyrian reliefs that are either half visible or fully visible. This creates a sense of depth and transition, illustrating how Assyrian culture has evolved and transformed over time. It is this unique combination of materials and colors that gives this series of works a timeless quality that is both ancient and new.
